The CX Build
Aug 14, 2013
I haven’t updated the status of the CX build. Here’s what I did to the motorcycle:
Painted the frame (myself) and tank (outsourced). Also applied a cool golden Honda logo on the tank.
Rebuilt and painted the front suspension. I dismantled it, cleaned it and changed the oil and seals. Also changed the steering bearings.
Made a new seat.
Cut both the mud guards, they were crumbling with rust.
Replaced the handlebars with a clubman one. Also changed the grips and levers.
New headlight and taillight.
New single exit exhaust. The original one was very corroded and fell appart when I touched it.
New brake master cylinder and rebuilt callipers, new hoses and new brake oil.
Painted the wheels in satin black.
Stripped the chrome out of the crash bars, and painted them in satin black.
New 18-inch rear wheel, instead of the fat 16-inch wheel of the CX500 C.
New Dunlop tyres with classic look.
Several small fixes (rev counter, several electrical problems and other small things).
